DIY Mosaic Jewellery Wall Hook

All pictured jewellery is from A Midnight Wonderland.

A key staple for any jewellery lover has got to be a decent storage and organisation set up. I cannot stress enough how important it is for me to have easy access to all of my jewellery. If I can’t see an item or it takes me more than 10 seconds to grab it and throw it on, chances are it will never see the light of day and really, what’s the point in having a collection of beautiful jewels if you just rotate the same pieces every day?

I’ve always owned wall jewellery hooks, they’re such an easy way of not only being able to see all your necklaces, but keeping them nice & tangle free. The only problem I find is that most of them are so small and flimsy that I end up having to cram 12 necklaces on each hook.. which kind of defeats the whole purpose of them. Coat hooks can be another great option but a lot of them tend to be really unattractive and a bit of an eyesore and nobody wants an eyesore in their bedroom, do they?

So, I decided to get creative and make something functional and attractive! I’m actually really pleased with how it turned out. It looks a bit bent in one picture, but that's only because it wouldn't all fit in frame, so the image is warped.. it's straight in person, I promise! haha.

I loved that I could make it the exact size that I wanted because I have a lot of jewellery to find a home for, especially since I have my own boutique and end up squireling away one of everything that comes in stock!

I went with a mosaic design since I already had them, but you can decorate it however you please. I think a really cute personalised idea would be to alternate with some clear glass tiles and stick your own photos underneath.

The best part? Since I already had the mosaics and spray paint.. the whole thing only cost me about £3 and an hour to make. I'm tempted to make another one for the other side of my room, so I might do a tutorial/step by step if anyone is interested?

Now time to figure out some bracelet storage..

A Hydraluron Love Affair

Ahh, Hydraluron.. where do I even start? These are probably the only products in my skincare collection that I would be completely lost without. They claim to contain a pure form of hyaluronic acid which can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Any product that claims it can increase the moisture in my dry skin is well worth trying in my books. Especially if they work.. and boy do these work.

The product I've been using the longest is the original Hydraluron Moisture Booster. I won't pretend that I understand the science behind it, but the basic idea is that it's a lightweight serum that goes on underneath your moisturiser and helps boost the effectiveness of your moisturiser. Unlike most serums that claim to do similar things.. this actually works! Like, really, really works. If I forget to use this before my moisturiser, I actually notice it's missing!

I'm not usually one who buys product backups, but at any one time I usually have 2 or 3 tubes of the Moisture Booster in my cupboard, because I just can't bare the thought of being without it. That is how much I swear by it. It goes on offer for 3 for 2 quite often in Boots, so I always end up stocking up like a crazy person!

The Moisture Jelly is quite a new product for me. As soon as I spotted it in Boots a month or two ago, I just had to try it out. I haven't been using it for too long, but I do really like it so far, especially when used in conjunction with the Moisture Booster. It's a pretty similar texture to the Moisture Booster, but thicker and more jelly like. It dries really quickly on the skin and it's kind of hard to describe but it leaves my skin feeling smooth.. like my dry patches and imperfections have been glossed over with top coat. It's the perfect base for under make up. It says on the box that it's good for use in the AM & PM, but I personally prefer using it in the daytime and something a little bit thicker in the night time.

Another thing that I like about it is the packaging.. not only does it look pretty on my dressing table, but it has one of those spring mechanism pump things, so you know you're going to get every last drop of product out. Genius!

Out of these products, the one I reach for least is the Moisture Boosting Mask, it's £19.99 for a pack of 4 sheet masks, which is really expensive, so I only use these on special occasions or when my skin is in dire need of some extra TLC. I do really love them, but at that price I just can't justify using them regularly. They go on offer for 2 for 3 or 1/3rd off quite regularly, so it can be worth trying them out then if you're on the fence about splurging on them.

All in all, I am completely obsessed with this range of products and I can't ever see myself replacing them. They're just so good. Are any of you as obsessed with them as I am?

Autumn Wishlist

This week it's felt like the weather has suddenly got so much colder and Autumn is well and truly upon us. It's had me completely in the mood to ditch the summer scents in favour of lighting festive scented candles and I may or may not have already put up a couple of Halloween decorations.. I just love this time of year! With that in mind, I thought I would gather up a couple of the items I've been lusting after lately..

I am totally obsessed with both beauty products on this list. I want them so badly it's kind of ridiculous. Unfortunately even though Sephora now ship to the UK, neither of these products are eligible for UK shipping, which really sucks. I believe the Hourglass blush palette is being released here sometime in October, so hopefully I can get my hands on it then! As for the Smashbox palette, it seems to be a US exclusive and I can't find anywhere online that will ship it to the UK, so I guess that one will have to stay on the wishlist a while longer!

Another obsession of mine is the cut out heart hat. It's so adorable, I can't even handle it. I'm kind of hesitant to order it online because I am so not a hat person. I just don't think they suit me at all.. but I'm so tempted to try and make this one work!

For some reason my wardrobe seems to be a lot more monochrome this season than it usually is, so I think the yellow blazer will be a great way to inject some colour back into it. Same goes for the H&M skirt, which I've been majorly lusting after since seeing this photo of Taylor Swift rocking it a few weeks ago.

As for the Topshop boots, I just love the colour of them. I don't have any boots in a similar colour, so I think they'd be the perfect addition to my wardrobe! Oh, I just love browsing online when the new season stock starts to come out.. there's always so much I want to buy!

Hi.. hello.. long time no see!

I have neglected this poor little blog for far too long. It's definitely time to brush off the cobwebs and bring this little corner of the internet back to life! I thought it might be nice to have a proper fresh start, so I've hidden 99% of my previous posts, updated the layout and now I'm ready and raring to go again.

To be honest, I was a sporadic poster at the best of times, so 99% of you who see this pop up in your blog feed are probably like 'Who even is that and why am I subscribed?'

So.. Hi! I'm Sarah, but most of my friends call me Saz. I'm 24 years old and I currently live in Wales. I studied fashion design in Uni and I now own my own online boutique, A Midnight Wonderland, which is pretty fun and exciting.

I like to bake. I love to shop. I spend far too much money on beauty products. I have an unhealthy obsession with reality TV and I'm a biiiiit of a crazy rabbit lady. Seriously, I have a house bunny named Truffles and he is the most adorable furry thing on the planet. So I guess those are the types of posts you'd end up seeing on here.. fashion, beauty, baking, lifestyle etc. I hope you enjoy them.
I'd love to get some new blogs on my reading list, so if anyone has any recommendations (or wants to recommend themselves.. haha), please let me know in a comment! I'm really excited to be back in the blogging world again!

Also, I've got to add.. how beautiful is the illustration at the top of the post? It's by ThePaintedShoeArt on ETSY and I have fallen completely in love with her work. I can't decide which print I want to purchase first!
